Drivers urged to "share the road"
Drivers are being urged to be more considerate of other road users and to keep an eye out for motorbikes and cyclists.
The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) has released its latest advisory tips for British drivers and has encouraged road users to be ready to "share" the UK's highways.
Simon Elstow, head of the organisation's training branch, is urging all car owners to be respectful of cyclists and motorbike riders.
Drivers are being urged to give clear and early signals that they are turning and not to directly cut up cyclists or overtake and then turn left into their front wheel.
He said: "Most road users don't only use one mode of transport, so use that knowledge to be a bit more patient and understand the needs and risks of other road users."
The organisation recently revealed that 58 per cent of motorists had been cut up which contributes to 29 per cent of serious collision and it is something that the IAM wants to clamp down on.
