Highways Agency traffic officers in the Greater Manchester area have won praise for the services they provide to motorists on the M62.
A number of drivers have written to the government agency in recent weeks to voice their appreciation for the assistance they were provided after breaking down on the busy motorway.
Arthur and Margaret Case of St Helens hailed the North West Traffic Officer Service for the kindness and helpfulness of its staff after they broke down near junction 22.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, multiple sclerosis patient Bernadette Harwood called for assistance after developing a gearbox issue and thanked the officers for their professionalism.
Greg Taylor, acting regional operations manager in charge of the North West Traffic Officer Service, said these incidents are representative of the service it provides.
He added: "It is always good to get thanks and praise for the great work our traffic officers are doing around the clock, up and down the country to help motorway drivers and their passengers."
This comes after Greater Manchester Police announced in July 2010 that they have been successful in protecting local drivers from criminals via a summer crackdown on burglaries and theft.
