Insurance key for classic car owners

It may be the last thing on a classic-car owner's mind, but taking out insurance is vital, according to specialist Footman James.
The company is urging owners not to cut corners when purchasing a protection policy for their pride and joy, but it will also put their minds at ease to know that should anything happen to their vehicle all will not be lost.
Footman James' Andy Fairchild advised drivers to pick the right plan which includes European and UK breakdown cover, legal and expenses protection, salvage retention, along with personal accident and emergency travel cover.
He explained: "A standard motor insurance policy will, in the case of a complete write-off, pay out the vehicle’s market value only – relevant to the day that the claim was made."
Roads minister Mike Penning recently announced that from November 18th, classic cars produced before 1960 would be made exempt from taking MoT tests.
