The development of a new five-mile section of motorway along the A80 Glasgow to Stirling route is running to schedule and should be completed next autumn, Scottish road chiefs have claimed.
According to the Glasgow Evening Times, drivers have been assured that the £320 million M80 project will be finished on time and within budget.
The scheme involves upgrading one of the busiest roadways in Scotland, the A80, in the hope of reducing congestion at peak periods and slashing journey times between Glasgow, the Highlands and the north-east of the country.
Michelle Rennie, Transport Scotland's head of construction on the M80 project, told the newspaper that motorists "will be familiar with the sheer scale of the works being undertaken to upgrade this major Scottish arterial road".
Running between Stepps and Mollinsburn, the new stretch of motorway includes eight bridges and 11 culverts for six local roads.
Earlier this month, the Evening Times reported Glasgow City Council's claim that 600 potholes in the city had been permanently repaired as part of a major campaign to improve road surfaces.
