Drivers in the Liverpool and Merseyside areas have received a reminder of the importance of careful and vigilant driving on the motorways.
Merseyside Police is teaming with the North West Motorway Police Group and the Central Motorway Policing Group to raise awareness of the causes of accidents on motorways such as the M6.
These include driving too fast or too close to the car in front, or failing to take into account variations in stopping distances in dry and wet weather conditions.
As part of this initiative, the constabulary has also moved to crack down on drivers who are caught driving recklessly on the M6 in the coming weeks.
Acting Sergeant Tony Small of Merseyside Roads Policing Unit said: "As drivers we all have responsibilities to each other to drive in a manner that reduces the chances of killing and seriously injuring people."
Earlier this month, Merseyside Police allied with pupils from a school in Halewood in order to give road safety quizzes to drivers found guilty of speeding.
