Motorists being hit in the pocket by whiplash claims

UK motorists are being blighted by the country's whiplash culture as more and more people make claims for the injury.
Research by the AA has revealed that this trend is costing insurers £2 billion a year, increasing the average car insurance premium by £90 at a time when many drivers are struggling to afford the up keep of their vehicle.
Now the organisation is calling on the government to clamp down on this culture after it revealed that whiplash injuries caused the country to suffer the biggest rise in premiums in the past two years.
It follows a Treasury meeting on Wednesday (May 2nd) to develop new reforms on this. In February, prime minister David Cameron stated that he wanted to stop Britain becoming Europe's "whiplash capital" and it is hoped these reforms introduce better prevention laws.
Simon Douglas, director of AA Insurance, said: "The present dysfunctional system has also spawned a fraudulent multi-million pound 'cash for crash' industry. Reform can't come soon enough."
