Right colour can maintain value of a car
29 June 2012
When a person is purchasing a car, they are probably not thinking about the re-sale value. However, new research has found that the colour of a vehicle could determine whether a car will decrease in value or not.
According to used car pricing experts CAP, white cars consistently perform best in terms of second-hand value, with these vehicles keeping an average of five per cent more of their value in the used car market.
Blue has been highlighted as the most unpopular colour, with people within the industry dubbing the shade 'doom blue', while greens and maroons are also best avoided if a person is looking to sell their car on for a decent price.
However, shades such as indigo, yellow and pink performed strongly due to their appeal to sportier models.
Chris Crow, CAP chief editor, said: "The lesson for motorists is, when you're choosing the colour of your new car consider how it will look to prospective buyers when you come to sell it as a used car."
