Whiplash clampdown strikes a chord with motorists

Motorists across the UK are looking at numerous ways to make savings on owning a vehicle, but they are being blighted by those making fraudulent claims for whiplash.
The government is now looking to end the country's 'compensation culture' by introducing tougher measures for those looking to get a payout from a whiplash injury sustained in an accident.
A survey by MoneySupermarket.com has revealed that nine out of ten of respondents backed the plans to introduce more stringent guidelines, with 66 per cent claiming that the compensation culture was getting out of control.
Peter Harrison, car insurance expert at MoneySupermarket, said: "We hope to see changes implemented quickly and efficiently but, until then, it is vital drivers shop around for the best deal to make their hard earned cash go further."
The government is looking to make sure that all claimants are assessed by an independent panel of doctors prior to lodging a case for compensation.
