Liverpool courier wins company of the year award

Liverpool-based firm UK Couriers has been named the company of the year at a recent industry awards ceremony.

Online marketplace Courier Exchange was in charge of organising the event, which saw the Merseyside company recognised for its growth and successful development into a nationwide business.

Other locations in which it has been able to establish depots include Birmingham, Newcastle, Belfast, Nottingham and Scotland.

The firm was particularly praised for the way it has managed to restrict its number of empty or unprofitable journeys, as well as using the exchange to share fuel, toll and congestion charge costs.

Andy Cookson, manager of UK Couriers, attributed much of its success to the exchange, which he said has encouraged business from large multinationals.

He added: "Our association with Courier Exchange has allowed us to explore new business avenues, providing us with the opportunity to service more than just our immediate locality."
