The coalition government should look to conduct a national review into the difficulties haulage companies are facing as a result of rising bridge tolls.
This is the view of the Freight Transport Association (FTA), which has called for the Welsh Assembly Government's decision to reassess the economic impact of the Severn Crossing tolls to be replicated on a nationwide basis.
According to the FTA, bridge toll prices across the Severn have been on the rise for years, which has proved a serious issue to companies that are already facing difficult trading conditions.
It therefore called on Welsh policymakers to consider a more flexible structure which would grant reduced rates to business users.
MPs in Westminster are now being called upon to do the same, with the association highlighting the heavy cost of tolls on businesses in south west England.
Earlier this month, the FTA also urged the government to do more to support haulage industry-led initiatives to help improve the national transport infrastructure.
