A used car dealer in the Birmingham area has been hit with a fine for illegally selling damaged vehicles using misleading information.
Peter Robinson, operator of the Ford Kar Centre in Tyseley, has been made to pay a total of £3,015 by Birmingham Crown Court following an investigation by the local council's trading standards unit.
He was found guilty of giving false information about the mileage of a Ford Focus, as well as failing to specify that the car had been previously damaged.
Councillor Neil Eustace, chair of the public protection committee at Birmingham City Council, said this showed the importance of resources such as the HPI mileage check website and the VOSA MOT history check site.
He added: "Consumers should be extremely careful when purchasing a used car, especially if a deal seems too good to be true."
This comes after the council penalised a number of motor traders earlier this month for illegally selling clocked cars.
