Jaguar Land Rover has been showing off its latest green innovations to Vince Cable.
The business secretary visited the company's headquarters this week, where he looked at a number of systems for hybrid and electric cars.
Mr Cable flagged up Jaguar's Limo Green ultra-low carbon technology project as a "great example" of the good work that is currently being carried out at the plant.
He said this demonstrates that the UK's premium car sector is capable of meeting environmental challenges.
"The UK excels in making premium and niche cars and these are exported all over the world," he commented.
Mr Cable also looked at the Range Rover REHEV, an electric vehicle that makes use of a diesel engine when travelling off-road or at higher speeds.
This comes after figures from DrivenData showed that in the last year, average new car carbon emissions in the UK dropped by 5.6 per cent.
