Toyota continues commitment to reducing carbon emissions

Toyota has reaffirmed its commitment to lowering carbon emissions as its 'green month' gets underway.
The Japanese manufacturer has long advocated the methods to reduce the amount of gases in all its vehicles, and officials have noted a number of changes within its vehicles and sites which have contributed to a reduction.
At its Portbury vehicle import centre, a decision to switch to LED lighting has managed to cut emissions by 23 per cent, following this and the company has set ambitious targets in terms of reducing its footprint.
In 2009, the company revealed the annual combined carbon emissions at its Toyota GB sites came to 3,873 tonnes of CO2, the firm now aims to reduce that by 20 per cent in time for 2013.
Thomas Rosselle, manager corporate planning and CSR, said: "The work we are doing in our offices, workshops and training centres in the UK to achieve big reductions in our carbon emissions demonstrates our commitment to this ethos."
