Some 200,000 Toyota Prius models have been sold across Europe since its inception a decade ago, which may provide a cause for celebration.
The hybrid vehicle has seen a number of improvements over the last few years including reduced fuel consumption, emissions and a power increase of 30 per cent.
It could be said that these innovations have contributed to the car's success, as a total of 100,000 were distributed to buyers since 2008.
One in five Prius vehicles are currently sold in the UK and global sales of the car are expected to exceed two million units by autumn this year.
Toyota claims the Prius is one of its most successful products to date, particularly in the International Engine of the Year Awards in which it currently holds 11 titles.
Meanwhile, the producer has recently announced it will begin manufacture of the new Auris Hybrid, which is set to be created at the Burnaston Plant in Derbyshire.
