Volkswagen Transporter T5 named used van of year
The Volkswagen Transport T5 has been named used van of the year by vehicle pricing expert CAP.
A panel of six judges made the decision, selecting the Volkswagen model from a field of six different vans through criteria including image and brand perception, model range coverage and option availability.
The judges examined performances on the used van market for the whole of 2011 and decided upon the Volkswagen Transporter T5 because of its consistent performance on all of the CAP criteria.
"It [the Transport T5] just feels right. It has a strong brand image, a very professional dealer network and extremely high retained values," said judging panel chairman John Watts.
He described the van as having the "intangible quality" that every great product has and noted that many commercial drivers recognised this.
Volkswagen UK employs nearly 600 people worldwide and has a substantial market share in the number of vans sold across Britain.
