Bosch 'to shake up sat nav market'
Taxi drivers who routinely use a sat nav to find their way to their destination may be interested in the news that Bosch is rolling out a new premium navigation app for iOS smartphones.
It offers a number of new features which could help drivers navigate unknown areas and works through the interface of an Apple smartphone.
Notable among these are the application's ability to offer different routes based on contextual information - it can recommend an alternative way to reach a destination in order to allow drivers to cross a petrol station or shop and suggest different directions that it thinks will save time or fuel.
"Our expertise in this market is extensive and we're confident the unique and powerful tools available through our software are capable of making us a market leader in this sector," said product manager Florian Knollmann.
The government recently announced plans for a sat nav summit intended to make life easier for commercial users of this service.
