Prepare vehicle for winter, expert warns
Taxi drivers and other motorists who will be forced to use the roads over the coming days have been warned to prepare themselves and their vehicles for the cold snap set to hit the UK.
The Met Office has issued a Level 3 warning amid threats of snow and hail and the possibility of temperatures sinking as low as minus six degrees C.
With this in mind, vehicle rescue operator www.startrescue.co.uk is urging drivers to be ready for the worst.
Head of coordination Ricardo Sagnella said: "A little time spent now making sure your car is ready for winter driving could save you a whole heap of trouble in these conditions."
He recommended that drivers setting off on routes they are not sure of keep their satnav and phone charged, and check their car battery before leaving.
European tyre provider Delticom recently claimed the majority of UK motorists are largely unaware of the potential handling benefits involved in making the switch to winter tyres.
