Taxi drivers working in Telford are to be given lessons on their town's attractions to boost business and tourism.
The plan has been devised by chief of the Telford Private Hire Drivers' Association Mohammed Zaman, after he noted that for many people, taxi drivers will be the first person they speak to when visiting.
He is currently looking for funding to create an NVQ scheme, according to the Shropshire Star, as he thinks it will help to boost the reputation of the town among business visitors and tourists alike.
"We have got to tell people what's here and we want them to come into Telford and invest," Mr Zaman told the news provider.
He added that he believes attracting more people to the town is down to improving the local services that are available.
Last month, Wigan Today reported that prospective local taxi drivers are to face knowledge tests as part of stricter guidelines from the council before they are granted a licence.
