The area of Worcester may see a shared taxi scheme introduced if councillors decide to give the go-ahead, it was reported today.
Intended to reduce the cost and number of journeys, it involves a new system being used to work out the exact fares for people sharing a cab but disembarking at different points, according to the Worcester News.
The news may be pertinent to taxi drivers and companies looking for suitable taxi insurance to cover their fleet.
It was proposed by the Worcester Taxi Drivers Association, whose spokesperson David Allan told the newspaper of its potential benefits.
"It is going to be very good for trade and very good for the public," he said. "We think we can offer a much more efficient service than we do now."
