A fleet of Volkswagen vans have been selected by British Gas as the company attempts to modernise its brand.
Some 2,000 models - which will be a mixture of Volkswagen Caddy and Caddy Maxi vans - have been purchased initially in order to replace part of the firm's 10,000 fleet of vehicles.
Simon Elliott, director at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles said: "We are pleased to see that the quality, durability and cost-effective running costs of Volkswagen vans have passed the formidable British Gas acceptance criteria," he said.
Colin Marriott, general manager for British Gas fleet, added that the partnership with the manufacturer is very important to the company.
He explained that British Gas engineers can be assured their vehicles are reliable as a result of the new deal.
This comes after Volkswagen revealed a new pricing structure for servicing its commercial vehicles.
Stephen Bateson, head of aftersales and customer service for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, explained that the new offer means Volkswagen Van Centres are the best place to get the manufacturer's models fixed.
