The Ford Transit has proven to be the most popular van model in the country in August 2010, according to the manufacturer's monthly sales figures.
According to the firm, the Transit was the "clear leader" in terms of new registrations last month with 1,817 vans sold, up by 325 compared to the corresponding period of last year.
In total, 26,804 Transits have been sold to UK drivers in 2010 so far - 4,842 units more than had been sold at the same stage of 2009.
This success was also shared by the Ford Fiesta Van, which led its commercial vehicle segment with a 60 per cent share of the market in the year to date.
Nigel Sharp, managing director Ford of Britain, said: "With our clearer pricing policy, combined with new heavyweight advertising communications and our best ever vehicle range, Ford is very well positioned."
This comes in the same year that the Ford Transit brand celebrates the 45th anniversary of its introduction.
