FTA grants Sainbury's Van Excellence accreditation
Sainsbury's has been bestowed with the accolade of Van Excellence accreditation by the Freight Transport Association (FTA).
The retailer currently has a fleet of 1,400 vans with 4,000 drivers to help keep up with the growing demand for its online shopping market. It is one of just 25 businesses that has been given the accreditation.
A governance group of van fleet operators believed that Sainsbury's had shown the required commitment to its use of commercial vehicles and was praised for the "significant investment" it puts into it vans.
With online shopping now being driven by mobile devices, UK consumers spent an average of £114 on internet goods over the past month; the need for delivery vans is higher now than ever before.
Mark Cartwright, FTA's head of vans and light commercial vehicles, said: "Achievement of this standard has been a significant investment in hard work and commitment by the company and we congratulate Sainsbury’s on their successful accreditation."
