White van men ditching stereotypes

Seeing a dirty white van with the words "clean me" scrawled into the muck is quite a common sight in the UK but a new survey has found that many van owners are now ditching the common stereotype of their trade.
Research from Tesco Bank discovered that 74 per cent of white van men take pride in their vehicle, depriving cheeky passers by from emblazoning their vehicle with helpful cleaning tips.
White continues to be a popular colour for owners with 30 per cent choosing to go with a plain colour, however this is where the stereotype ends as drivers take up other more intellectual hobbies.
Tesco found that 24 per cent of van drivers are aspiring musicians while 22 per cent love nothing more than going on long walks. More and more women are also becoming van drivers with 15 per cent being florists.
Julie Hopes, managing director of insurance at Tesco Bank, said: "Our research has firmly dispelled the outdated White Van Man stereotype. And with more and more women running their own business, an increasing number of female van drivers are taking to the roads."
