Volvo tops the charts for popular company car

Commercial vehicle insurance holders are likely to have considered their options prior to choosing their vehicle – but for the moment, it appears Volvo is proving particularly popular.

The manufacturer said this week it has seen a record number of contracts signed at its dealerships for contract hire or personal contract hire agreements.

The latter is up by two-thirds when compared with October 2010, while the manufacturer’s leasing business saw a 68 per cent rise.

Volvo UK’s training and field manager Tony Grice said the trend may be indicative of the current financial climate.

“Increasing numbers of people are opting for a fixed monthly payment which enables them to upgrade their vehicle every two or three years,” he remarked, adding that this type of deal makes sticking to a budget much easier for many households.

Earlier this month, Volvo Car UK welcomed a new clarification on tax codes, meaning its V60 model – due in showrooms next year – will be classed as a hybrid.
