Vauxhall has started 2013 strongly after its Ampera vehicle was honoured at the BusinessCar Awards.
The car scooped the top accolade within the Green Model of the Year category at the ceremony and was roundly praised by voters for its commitment to fuel-efficiency, a major plus point for motorists.
Vauxhall’s win follows on from Jaguar which was also successful at the BusinessCar Awards with its XF and XJ vehicles claiming the Executive Car of the Year and Luxury Car of the Year titles respectively.
The Ampera stands out from the rest of the car market due to technology which allows the wheels to be electrically driven, a feature that sets it apart from hybrids.
Paul Barker, editor of BusinessCar, spoke of the decision to bestow the accolade on the Ampera: “The Vauxhall Ampera is a genuinely revolutionary piece of technological development, and it’s no surprise that the readers of BusinessCar chose it as their Green Model of the Year.”
