A car dealership in Sheffield has completed an expansion of its premises, adding an MOT centre and a servicing department to the business.
John Holland, based on Meadowhall Road, originally comprised of a showroom and an aftersales team, but it took the decision to broaden its business offerings. The redevelopment of the site means it now includes a new £200,000 in-house MOT and service area as well as state-of-the-art workshop featuring the latest diagnostic technology, Bdaily reported
Improvements like this are a great way for a business to diversify but there are also various considerations to be made, including changes that might need to be made to the firm's motor trade insurance policy. Not only will the business' insurance need to cover the value of the extra equipment, additional stock on site and the upgraded premises, but the changes to the business model could also require additional road risks insurance cover.
With the company now offering MOTs and servicing, it has said it will be bringing in four new mechanics. These employees will need to be added to the road risks insurance policy if they are to be able to drive customers' cars for testing purposes.
Simon Miller, head of John Holland’s aftersales department, commented: “The opening of a new MOT and service department is great news for John Holland as it will allow us to offer our customers everything they require under one roof.
“At John Holland we have enjoyed wonderful relationships with our growing list of returning customers over the years so it gives us great pleasure to be able to extend that relationship by offering MOT and servicing to both existing and new customers.”
