Car dealers saw a successful month of sales in September with one popular American brand coming top of the bunch.
Ford had the most successful month on a year-to-date sales report.
The Ford Fiesta and the Ford Focus were number one and two at the top of the UK car sales chart for September and the year to date, compiled by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
Ford’s Transit commercial vehicle continued its lead in sales with a 22.4 per cent portion of the total number of motors sold. The popular motor is 46 years old and remains one of the most popular models, according to sales figures.
Mark Ovenden, Ford of Britain managing director, said: “In an intensely competitive market we are delighted with the overall balance of demand for our best ever vehicle range. The Fiesta, Focus and Ford Transit stand out as vehicles of huge appeal.”
He added that the brand is helping to maintain the UK car market.
The Ford name has been operation for 100 years this year.
