Van insurance customers urged to upgrade security

Commercial vehicle insurance policyholders have been advised that it is now more important than ever to protect their van against theft or damage.

As the credit crunch continues to bite, one of the best ways to protect vans is by installing a stolen vehicle recovery system to act as a deterrent to thieves.

At least that is the opinion of motor recovery firm TRACKER, which has reported a rise in the number of vehicles stolen since the onset of the economic downturn.

The firm’s managing director Bill Raynal explained: “The recession is putting pressure on criminals to find good quality used [vehicles] of all types, so all owners need to take steps to protect their assets.”

Vans are certainly in high demand in the current economic climate, if recent figures are anything to go by.

According to the latest British Car Auctions Commercial Pulse Report, van insurance customers are prepared to pay more for a second-hand vehicle now than they have been in recent months.
