Manufacturer Volkswagen has revealed that sales of its commercial vehicles saw an increase last month.
Total registrations of Volkswagen vans in September were nine per cent higher than they were in the same period of 2008, driven by strong sales of its Transporter and Caddy vehicles.
This performance has allowed the German firm to increase its market share by 2.3 per cent compared to last year, becoming the second-best selling range of vans in the country.
Simon Elliott, director of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, expressed his pride in the company’s performance despite the challenging economic climate.
He said: “With continued improvements in residual values of our vehicles and low rate finance offers still available, this clearly shows that Volkswagen vans are very competitive and make great commercial sense.”
This comes after the company’s Transporter vehicle won the accolade for Best Medium Van at the Fleet Van Awards earlier in the month.
