Volkswagen has highlighted the success of its latest Transporter van model since its launch in January 2010.
The optimised version of the commercial vehicle, which features a revised look and a more efficient and powerful engine, was named best medium van in the Van Fleet World 2010 Honours and best standard panel van at the iVan Awards 2010.
It was praised by judges for its new features, which were said to make it a better van to drive than its predecessors.
Simon Elliott, director of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, said: “We are really pleased that the new Transporter is already proving to be so highly valued by both the fleet experts judging these awards and our customers.”
The success of the Transporter and other vans has also helped the company to increase its share of the commercial vehicle market to 10.4 per cent by the end of April 2010.
According to Vauxhall’s figures, it sold a total of 354,770 vans worldwide last year, with its Caddy brand ranking as the top-selling product.
