A family owned car dealership that has been in business for 50 years is becoming part of the Mitsubishi brand.
Normandy Garage in Normandy, Surrey, was started by John Richards back in 1966 and he still lives next door to the businesses he founded. It remains a true family business, with his sons also involved in the dealership: Ian is the dealer principal/sales head and Johnny is the financial controller.
When you are growing a business or taking in different makes or volumes of cars, its always important to check you have the correct motor trade insurance and road risks insurance levels to cover the increased risk.
Normandy Garage is confident the move to become part of Mitsubishi will enhance the business’s strong reputation for customer service and staff retention. As part of the deal, sales executive Toby Carter will be dedicated to selling the brand. The dealership also has staff who have been with Normandy Garage for between 15 and 20 years.
John told Car Dealer Magazine: “Family values are what the garage trades on — treating people how you want to be treated. We’ve got lots of loyal customers, and what we excel in is customer service.
“Our core brand is Normandy Garage. We’ve got a lot of customers, and we don’t do anything half-heartedly. We wouldn’t take on something we weren’t happy with, because that goes against what we do, which is treating people how you want to be treated.”
Mitsubishi Motors UK said the way Normandy Garage conducts its business made it an ideal new member of the group’s ‘family’.
Lance Bradley, the managing director of Mitsubishi UK, said: “Its strong family ethos and the importance it places on customer care perfectly match our own values, and I look forward to it contributing to Mitsubishi’s growing success in the UK.”
