A new £2.5 million car dealership is due to open in Hampshire next year, with the showroom expected to create at least 20 jobs.
The brand new building for the Peter Cooper Group will boast a number of modern, state-of-the-art facilities. The Hedge End site will act as the company’s new headquarters, from which it will manage the group’s other five dealerships across the south coast, and also see an influx of new staff brought on board.
When opening new sites such as this, there are many considerations a business must take, one of which is to obtain the necessary combined motor trade insurance. Dealerships or repair centres will need to ensure they have cover for the vehicles, tools, parts and equipment they have stored on site as well as additional protection for staff and customers.
For motor trade companies hiring new staff, another thing to consider is which employees to name on a road risks insurance policy – not all members of the workforce will need to drive the vehicles on site so it is worth considering which named driver will help keep the cost of the policy down.
Darren Cooper, the Group’s managing director, told the Daily Echo that the new premises will feature a 12-car showroom. There will also be space for 60 pre-owned cars, more customer parking, a valeting station and MoT and servicing bays.
Brand manager Chris Godfroy added: “It’s a very exciting move that will also enable us to employ new people in a variety of roles including service, sales, administration, management and aftercare.” He said that up to 25 new members of staff will be brought in.
