New 'car supermarket' set to open in Grimsby

A new car dealership, described by local press as a “car supermarket”, is set to open in Grimsby later this year.

The Grimsby Telegraph reported that Motor Depot is moving into the old Godfrey Autoparts site in West Coates Road and aims to be up and running before the end of September 2015.

This won't be the first site opened by Motor Depot, which already operates in Hull, Scunthorpe and Hessle so no doubt the business will open smoothly with a full motor trade insurance policy and other such essentials all taken care of.

Steve Butterley, managing director of Motor Depot, spoke to the paper about the new premises, describing it as a “natural expansion” for the business.

“Motor Depot has long desired a presence in Grimsby, but it's been a question of waiting for the right premises to become available,” he added.

“The new site in West Coates Road occupies a prominent roadside location and it will enable us to continue to grow our brand throughout the Lincolnshire area."

The site is being refurbished ahead of its planned opening date and, in addition to organising the showroom, paperwork and stock, Motor Depot is looking to create 25 new jobs to run the business, which will feature a service and preparation centre and a showroom. Overall the site will have the capacity to stock around 150 vehicles.
