Subaru claims SUV award

Subaru has claimed a top accolade within the SUV market after it triumphed at the recent 4×4 Magazine awards.

The manufacturer’s Subaru XV was named the ‘SUV of the year’ after the publication put the vehicle through its paces and judges were suitably impressed with the car’s overall performance.

The panel at the magazine praised the XV’s “enjoyable” and “involving” drive while also being highly complimentary of the vehicle’s fuel economy and off-road ability for it to claim the accolade.

Officials at Subaru were even more impressed after the XV was able to beat off tough competition from the likes of Audi, Kia, Mazda, Nissan and Volkswagen to come through triumphant in the hardest-fought category.

Nigel Fryatt, editor of 4×4 Magazine, said: “The SUV class in 4×4 Magazine’s 4×4 of the Year test is one of the most competitive. The Subaru XV was an interesting new arrival in that class, which did much to impress judges.”
