Toyota has come away from the CarBuyer Awards victorious after scooping an accolade for its GT86 model.
The vehicle claimed the title of Coupe of the Year after gaining 4.8 out of five from the judges at the magazine’s awards ceremony. It represents a great start to the year for the Japanese manufacturer.
It had also recently won the Green Car of the Year 2013 for the Auris Hybrid after beating off competition from the likes of the new Volkswagen Golf Bluemotion and the BMW i3 electric supermini.
The GT86 was given high praise from the publication with the “lively” 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine being described as having “plenty of character”.
Steve Fowler, CarBuyer editor-in-chief, added: “The GT86 is a fine example of Toyota doing what it does best: understanding the needs of a target market and delivering – in this case a focused sports car that’s all about driving enjoyment, yet at an affordable price.”
